Some videos will be remastered, some will include behind the scenes footage, some will include producer notes or contextual information and others will appear as if they were recorded on a potato. In 2004, the format for Rocketboom was efficient, effective and exciting as a means of delivering news stories online. That was pre-video iPod (i.e pre-portable video), pre-YouTube, pre-iPhone, pre-Twitter and pre-Facebook-era. Today? I’m not sure the eponymous Rocketboom news show with a keyboard and map is as effective as it once was for a rundown of the daily news though many of the staple Rocketboom content design qualities continue to hold their weight. If you are interested in reading more about this topic, please visit: http://dembot.com/?p=631 With regards to the full set of archives on the Rocketboom website, especially the first 7 or 8 years, you’ll find what I believe is the only, if not most extensive daily historical record of internet culture presented in video form. All videos and comments (including YouTube comments) have been preserved and will continue to exist on the rocketboom.com site. Thank you to the hundreds upon hundreds of people who contributed directly to the Rocketboom show over the years. It has been a highlight of my life to participate with the energy of so many others from around the world who understood the cultural importance of what Rocketboom originally stood for: tearing down the seemingly invincible control over the video medium.
