The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI)'s NFV group looked to open source software to help speed the adoption of NFV. When they partnered with The Linux Foundation to form the Open Platform for NFV (OPNFV,) what they discovered was a partnership that would help them long after the project came together. At the time, Prodip Sen was working at Verizon, and is now CTO, NFV at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise. He explains that The Linux Foundation educated ETSI on what was involved, while providing workshops and discussions to help educate his colleagues while forming the project. "Even after the formation of OPNFV, as we worked through the running of the organization [...] The Linux Foundation has been very helpful in providing us with information, discussions, and contacts to help us explore options and opportunities" says Sen. "They have helped with the working of OPNFV itself."
