We have been considering the portion of Scripture commonly referred to as 'The Sermon on the Mount.' In it Jesus, as the King, is sharing the Standard of His Kingdom. The Kingdom Standard is Different and Higher than that of the world; indeed, the Standard is the perfection of God. It is as well a definitive Standard - there is no middle ground; you are either serving God or the world. Jesus stated, 'You cannot serve two Masters.' Today, we begin to see that the Kingdom Standard is a Practical Standard. The application of this Different, Higher, Definitive Standard should bring discernment. Discernment is the ability to judge well. It is the art of thinking critically without be unnecessarily critical! As we examine this final portion of the Sermon on the Mount, we will be considering three focal points of discernment; beginning with our 'insights.'.
