Upon the opening of the 7th seal there was a period of silence in heaven during which time 7 angels were given 7 trumpets to blow. If you believe that the Bible should be interpreted literally, then this is a clear statement that these 'judgments' (seals, trumpets, bowls) should be taken sequentially. The blowing of the first four trumpets brings greater devastation upon the earth. And yet, we end with an angel crying out, 'Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!' …
